early in the morning, when the day barely
threw its ten thousand spears
onto the night’s chest, my lover woke up
and went to the pigeon house. she took
her reputation, the whitest of the doves,
kissed it and smiled innocently,
the way the children smile, then
set it free, to float towards the sparkling
light of the sun, out of the old [...]
